Honoring our past, preparing for their future
About Us

Philosophy

As educators in the Visitation tradition, we help to form young lives as well as impart knowledge. Our approach to education continues the Salesian spirituality inspired by the founders of the Visitation, St. Francis de Sales and St. Jane de Chantal. We strive to instill a lifelong love of learning in all our girls.

Visitation Academy Mission Statement

The Visitation Academy, a private Catholic school for girls, strives to perpetuate, in the spirit of St. Francis de Sales, a great reverence toward God and a gentle strength in its young ladies. In its pursuit of academic excellence in a Catholic atmosphere, it concentrates on establishing Christian ideas in an environment where the spiritual, academic, physical, emotional and social needs of each girl receive first consideration. It encourages each student to reach her highest potential of academic and personal success by developing each student's particular gifts, that, when developed, enrich not only her community but also the world.

Our Six Salesian Goals

We offer students strong academic programs to fulfill their intellectual pursuits and direct them toward a faith-filled vision of life. In the classroom, we encourage them to build on their strengths and bolster areas that need improvement. We ask that our girls live by the Salesian virtues of kindness, gentleness, humility and thoughtful concern of others. Our school community is an environment where members respect the uniqueness of one another and foster an inclusive and caring school community.

Our Salesian optimism helps us to encourage our students to reach their potential as we affirm and celebrate their achievements. Our goal is to guide them to become self-directed young women whose broad vision of life leads them to offer their gifts of mind and heart in service to those in need.

  • Foster a personal friendship with God which leads to a faith-filled vision of life
  • Integrate a strong academic course of studies with a Salesian spiritual dimension
  • Build faith communities which call their members to understand the value of diversity and to respect the dignity of each person
  • Promote the development of liberty of spirit which empowers students to make life-giving choices
  • Embrace and model gospel values of peace and justice in order to be catalysts for positive change
  • Encourage an awareness of and care for the gifts of God‘s creating hand

“Friendships begun in this world will be taken up again, never to be broken off.”

~ St. Francis de Sales
