Visitation Academy - Frederick, Maryland - Founded 1846 Honoring our past, preparing for their future
Located on two acres in historic downtown Frederick, Maryland, the Visitation has been educating young ladies since 1846. Our school community lives the philosophy of St. Francis de Sales who tells us, treat everyone and everything with kindness and lead with a gentle strength. The Visitation Academy is steeped in history and tradition.
The Visitation enrolls students in grades PreK-3 through Eight and we pride ourselves on the intimate feeling you experience when visiting our campus. Our professional teachers establish Christian ideals in an environment where the spiritual, academic, physical, emotional and social needs of each child receive first consideration. The Visitation Academy's faculty develops each student's individual gifts, to enrich not only her community, but also the world that we share.
With accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI), our curriculum is standards-based and provides a strong academic core while allowing for enrichment in foreign languages, music, art, tap, and practical classes such as public speaking and life skills.
Our beautiful campus chapel provides a spiritual setting for student prayer services and reflection during daily religion classes and also a place for special liturgies during Advent and Lent. The chapel is home to our Christmas Service of Light and our 8th grade graduation mass. The students in grades 4 through 8 attend mass every day and the whole school attends every Wednesday and all holy days.
Please enjoy browsing our website, but to enjoy the true charisma of the Academy come by to visit our students, faculty and staff and witness our faith in action.
God Bless You,
Lynne Kirby
