About Us
The
Visitation Academy is a private, Catholic school for young girls in
grades Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8. The school was established
by the Sisters of the Visitation in 1846. Accredited by the Middle
States Association of Schools and Colleges, its beautiful campus
stretches for almost a square city block, and is situated in the
middle of the historic district in Frederick Maryland.
Because it is first and foremost a Catholic school, Mass is
celebrated every day for the students. Religion classes are an
integral part of their curriculum. The small class sizes allow
skilled teachers to address the individual needs of their students
in a variety of subjects. Our classroom environments are designed
to help students become well-educated and well-rounded.
Visitation Academy is a private
Catholic School where:
·
The individual’s
dignity and worth are recognized.
·
Hard work and
achievement are honored.
·
Manners and morals are
fostered.
·
Creativity and
compassion are celebrated.
Our Goals
The
school’s philosophy, in the tradition of Saint Francis de Sales,
emphasizes the virtues of reverence toward God, and a gentle
strength. In the spirit of Saint Francis de Sales, the Academy
maintains that education should function to achieve the following
goals:
-
Stimulate the students to think and act independently, as well
as cooperatively, thus assisting each student to reach her
highest potential of academic and personal success.
-
To
develop each student’s particular individual gifts, that, when
developed, enrich not only her community, but also the world.
-
Establish Christian ideals in an environment where the
spiritual, academic, physical, emotional, and social needs of
each child receive first consideration.
