Living Our Faith

While we are well-known as an all-girls school, the Academy is first and foremost a Catholic school
steeped in tradition. We continue to welcome girls of all faiths to the Visitation Academy, and our diverse student population is a testament to that openness. We hold fast to the religious legacy the Visitation Sisters so beautifully instilled at the Academy. Even today, the Sisters’ spiritual ways can be felt on our campus.

  • Our entire student body attends Mass every Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church
  • Our Fourth through Eighth grade girls attend Mass daily

However, to truly live their faith, Visitation Academy students reach beyond the Second Street front gates and out to the community locally and globally in need. Our girls participate in a variety of Community Service projects to help them understand their role as a member of the global world they live in:

  • Frederick Community Action Agency Food Bank Drive (year-long)
  • Mission of Mercy Oral Hygiene Drive
  • Convey of Hope for Haiti
  • Pennies for Patients
  • Operation Rice Bowl
  • American Heart Association Hoops for Heart
  • Bras for the Cause
  • March for Life & Youth Rally
  • Operation Welcome Home
  • Toys for Tots Official Drop-Off Location
  • St. Jude Math-a-thon
  • Winter Warmth Clothing Drive ELL Outreach/Summer Clothing and Toy Drive

“One kind word wins more willing service than a hundred harsh orders or stern reproofs.”
